2002 Owensboro-Daviess County Primary Care Directory

Do you need a “medical home?”
Do members of your family need a doctor?
Are you helping someone else find a doctor?

If so, this directory may help you. It lists doctors who provide primary care, and doctors who are accepting new patients under various circumstances.

Having a primary care physician is important. Why?

• They are best suited for check-ups and preventive care
• Medical histories are kept on file
• Trusting relationships can be fostered
• Primary care physicians usually leave a few slots open for their patients who do not have appointments and unexpectedly need to see a doctor right away.

The Public Life Foundation conducted 50 health care forums in the summer and fall of 2001. During many of these forums, citizens appeared misinformed or confused about the health care resources available in our community. In response to that need, we prepared this directory.

The Owensboro-Daviess County Primary Care Directory was compiled from a survey of primary care physicians conducted in the fall of 2001. Follow up occurred in early 2002. Some physicians did not wish to list specific information.
